The 1841 census, 1851, 1861 and 1871 census and 1861 census for 11 Frith Street shows that James and Eleanor had the following children:

• James Cross, born 1832 in Bishopgate, Middlesex. James was a carpenter. James does not appear on the 1881 census

• Eleanor Cross, born 1833 in Bishopgate, Middlesex. Eleanor was a dressmaker. The 1881 census shows that Eleanor remained unmarried and stayed at the family home at 11 Frith Street

• Sarah Cross, born 1835 in Bishopgate, Middlesex, Sarah was a milliner. In 2q1858 (Strand, 1b, 577) Sarah married John Thomas Sumner. The 1861 census and 1881 census show that John and Sarah had the following children:
  • John James Sumner born 3q1859 (Pancras, 1b, 25) in Marylebone
  • Eleanor Mary Sumner born 2q1861 (Pancras, 1b, 35) in Marylebone
  • ?Mary Sumner born about 1865 in Westminster
  • Florence Sumner born 2q1876 (Westminster, 1a, 468b) in Westminster

  Sarah died on 23rd September 1897

• John Cross, born 1837 in St Pancras, Middlesex

• Mary Ann Cross, born 1840 in St Pancras, Middlesex. Mary was a milliner. The 1881 census shows that Mary remained unmarried and stayed at the family home at 11 Frith Street

• Caroline Cross, born 1843 in St Pancras, Middlesex. Caroline was an embroiderer. FreeBMD shows a possible marriage certificate for Caroline for 1q1866 St George in the East,, volume 1c, page 754

• Harriet Cross, born 1846 in St Pancras, Middlesex. The 1881 census shows that Harriet remained unmarried and stayed at the family home at 11 Frith Street

James was a master baker and had a bakery in Frith St; London

By the time of the 1881 census James had died and Eleanor is shown living at 11 Frith street with her unmarried daughters.
